SECURITY
Members are expected to be vigilant; to check the bona fides of any stranger on the Golf Course complex.
CAR PARK
Changing in the Car Park is prohibited
CHILDREN
There is no age restriction on joining the club, however all junior members under the age of 10 years will only be allowed on the course or in the Clubhouse if accompanied by a parent, guardian or authorised adult.
DOGS
Dogs are not allowed on the Golf Course or in the Club House except Guide Dogs and Trainee Guide Dogs.
HEALTH & SAFETY
All members and visitors must observe the Club’s Health & Safety policy at all times.

GOLFING GENERAL RULES
PRIORITY ON THE COURSE
1. The Captain has Precedence on the First Tee. Ref 1969
2. If a match fails to keep its place on the course and loses more than one clear hole on the players in front
it must allow the match following to pass Ref 9/99
3. 2 ball competition matches always have priority on the course and should be allowed through
regardless of whether or not the course in front is full
Foursomes matches are classed as 2 ball matches
Players only playing a part round should always allow through players playing a full round.
4. Green Keeping staff have priority on the course at all times; if a member of staff is in range do not play
until signalled to do so.
PRACTICE
Practice on the course with a number of balls must be confined to the Practice Area. Ref 9/99
The mat on the 17th tee may be used for long game practice only with permission from the Professional. Ref 01/16
RETRIEVAL OF GOLF BALLS
Players must not leave the course to retrieve golf balls except by the designated entrance.
STARTING OF PLAY
1. Starting of play is only permitted from the 1st and 10th tee in accordance with the tee reservation board. Ref 12/16
1a. Players must not tee off from the 10th tee, if players on the 9th hole have already played their approach shots to the 9th green Ref 12/16
1b. Starting from the 10th tee on Medal or Designated Honours Board Competition Days is not permitted. Ref:12/16
1c. Players who have started their round from the 10th tee who wish to continue their round from the 1st tee (upon leaving the 18th green) must go to the back of the queue (for the 1st tee) before continuing their round. Ref:12/16
2. Starting from the wrong tee is not permitted. Ref 12/16
2a. If the 10th green is not visible from the competition tee play must not start. Ref 12/16
3. General play must start from the yellow tees unless otherwise stated.. Ref 12/13
4. All interclub matches must commence on the 1st tee unless prior agreement is obtained from the Greens Chairman or Competitions Secretary.
5. No player may commence play from the 17th tee. Ref 6/04
6. When tees are busy.
If the 1st and 10th tees are busy, players wishing to start should place a ball in the appropriate chute and play in turn.
This must only be done when all players in the group are on the tee and ready to play.
Balls must not be placed in the chute before getting changed, collecting your clubs or entering competitions in the pro shop.
STARTING TIMES
1. Times may be altered at any period at the discretion of the Committee Ref DD
2. Winter Season is defined as the period from 1st November to 31st March Ref DD
3. Starting Times for Ladies Intermediate
Saturday - Not before 1pm except on Monthly Medal Days then 2pm in Summer and 1pm in Winter
Sunday - 12 noon
On Tuesdays courtesy must be given to Lady Members on the 1st tee from 9.30am – 10.45am.
COMPETITIONS
1. All Club competitions and competition matches must start from the white tees unless otherwise stated. All scorecards must be issued by the Club Professional prior to play. Ref 09/14
2. Restricted members are not permitted to play or represent the club in inter club fixtures at weekends.
2a. Restricted 5 day members are not eligible to play in any competitions at weekends. Ref:09/14.
3. Members inviting guests are not able to play in Club Competitions.
4. Play in all Medal Competitions (excluding Captain’s Day and Winter Wednesday Medals) are to be played in 2 and 3 balls before 12pm only. The Monthly Medal and Designated Honours Board Competitions can be played in 2, 3 or 4 balls after 12:00pm. Ref:09/14
1. Play on the Course before a Stroke Play Competition on the day is not allowed. R &A Rule of Golf 7-(1)-b
Penalty for breach of this rule is disqualification.
Buggies are not allowed to be used in any competition / medal and are for general play only, with the exception of disabled buggy users (as defined by the Disability Discrimination Act). Personal buggies may be used on the course for general play providing the relevant insurance is provided and the safety policy acknowledgement form is completed. Buggies are available from the Pro Shop.
Finals
All finals (match-play or singles rounds) must be played from the white tee posts. Ref 12/17
MATCH PLAY
1. Competitions may be played before the date indicated on the draw sheet except the final which will be played on the date stated or decided by the committee. Ref DD
2. All players in competition draws are responsible for contacting and arranging their own individual matches before the stated deadline dates. Ref 12/13
3. Failure to arrange and play a match before the date set by the committee will mean disqualification of both parties. Ref DD
4. If a match be ‘ALL SQUARE’ at the end of the allotted round it shall be continued hole by hole (shots being taken as entitled) until decided, however, if still not decided and darkness intervenes the match shall be re commenced as soon as is reasonably practical, or at a date decided by the Committee. Ref 12/13
5. MATCH PLAY ROUNDS must start from the first tee unless both sets of competitors are in full agreement, in which case the 1st or 10th tee can be used.
TWO BALL MATCH PLAY ROUNDS HAVE PRIORITY ON THE COURSE Ref DD
MONTHLY MEDAL PLAY COMPETITIONS
1. All Medal Competitions shall be played in 2 or 3 balls before 12:00pm. Ref:09/14
2. The Medals will take place on the first Saturday of each month, with an “extra” medal on Sunday, where available. Ref:09/14
* Players can only enter each medal competition once.
3. The following conditions apply to the use of the course on the official Saturday Medal Day.
(a) No Visitors before 12pm.
(b) No single players.
(c) No 4 balls until after 12:00pm.
(d) Medal restrictions cease at 12pm. Medal players have priority.
(e) Matches will only be allowed when medal restrictions cease at 12:00pm.
(f) The Monthly Medal can be played in 2, 3 or 4 balls after 12:00pm. Ref 12/13
4. All supplementary rounds of Golf (for handicap purposes) must be played from the yellow stones.
4a. If, due to circumstances, medal play is unplayable on the Medal Day, that month’s Medal Play will be abandoned and reinstated on a later weekend at the Committee’s discretion, the conditions (playing restrictions) as agreed by the Greens Committee for the rearranged medal day will be posted as early as possible prior to play. Ref 12/13
DESIGNATED HONOURS BOARD COMPETITIONS
Note: Players can only enter each Honours Board Competition once.
1. The following conditions apply to the use of the course on the days of the designated Honours Board Competitions.
2. Rules and Course Restrictions for the Competitions will be posted prior to the Competition.
3. All Designated Honours Board Competitions may only be played in 2 or 3 balls, 4 balls may be played at the discretion of the competitions committee and will be notified prior to the competition. Ref 09/14
(a) No Visitors before 12pm.
(b) No Single players.
(c) Non Honours Board Competition players may play on the designated competition days but must play from the 1st tee and in 2 or 3 balls before 12pm. Ref: 09/14
(d) Competition restrictions cease at 12pm. Competition players have priority.
(e) Matches will be allowed when competition restrictions cease at 12:00pm.
(f) All players must sign in and collect their scorecard from the Professional prior to play. Ref:09/14
(g) The Honours Board Competitions can be played in 2, 3 or 4 balls after 12:00pm. Ref 09/14
VISITORS
1. A Visitor playing with a Member may be introduced at the Concessionary Green Fee a maximum of 6 times in any calendar year, thereafter they will pay the appropriate Green Fee.
2. Visitors must play with a member who introduces them.
3. Visitors must be signed in and the Green Fee paid before playing. Ref 3/98
4. Weekends - A member may introduce up to 3 visitors at weekends
5. ALL Visitors must play from Yellow Tees unless otherwise agreed by the Professional. Ref 12/13
6. Visitors paying a Green Fee are regarded as honorary members of the club for the day.
6a. Members of other types of club or society, overseas visitors and non club members will, on payment of a green fee, be regarded as guest of the club and be entitled to be supplied with alcohol at the club bar.

7. Non-playing Visitors may be introduced to the Club House by members and must be signed in the Visitors Book. Ref DD
8. Secretary and Board Members are permitted to sign in guests on behalf of the membership. Ref 12/13
9. Turton Room and Snooker Room
Visitors can only use the facilities in the company of a member Ref DD
DRESS ON COURSE
Gentlemen may wear knee length tailored golf shorts with sports socks of any length. Beach and sports shorts are not acceptable.
No track suits or training shoes allowed.
Gentlemen’s golf shirts must have a collar and should be tucked in at all times.
No items of golf wear to have large logos (eg football shirts or sweat shirts)
JUNIOR RULES
On Presentation Evenings Junior Members may attend at the invitation of the Captain.
Junior Members are allowed in the Cassidy Lounge, unaccompanied up to 9pm after 9pm must be accompanied by an adult. They must wear smart casual dress, clean, dry golfing attire is allowed but no golfing shoes. They are not permitted to drink alcohol or play the gaming machines.
Junior Members under 16 years of age are not permitted in the Turton Room.
Juniors may play after 12pm on Medal Days.
Juniors with a handicap of 18 or less can play in the monthly medals (if accompanied by 1 or 2 adults over 21 years old) and the Club Championship but no other Adult Competition unless invited to do so by the competition organiser.
Saturday & Sunday Play - Juniors with handicaps of 24 and under may play at any time. Those with a higher handicap may only play if accompanied by an adult member over the age of 21.
Juniors may invite junior Golfing guests, providing that the guest has previous Golfing experience and is signed in by the Club Professional.
Juniors may sign in a maximum of 3 other Junior Golfing visitors to the Clubhouse. Parents of Juniors may use the Clubhouse as temporary guests whilst waiting for Juniors.
All Juniors may play after 11:30am in Winter and 12:00pm in Summer, or by prior agreement with the Club Professional or his Assistant (e.g. at less busy times only).
Juniors with a handicap of 24 or less may play off the white tees in eligible competitions and in general play. (when general play off white tees is allowed).
