Local Rules
LOCAL RULES
Subject to amendment from time to time, notice of which will be displayed.
1. OUT OF BOUNDS
The boundary of the course is defined as the line of the boundary hedges and fences surrounding the playing area. On or over the paths and tarmac areas surrounding the Club House. (This to include both car parks.
1a. 16TH HOLE – GREENKEEPERS SHEDS & SURROUNDS
The area to the right of the 15th tee / fairway and right of the 16th tee will be an integral part of the course. The R&A rules of Golf will apply for lost balls.
2. STONES IN BUNKERS
Stones in bunkers are moveable obstructions, relief may be obtained as per Rule 24-1
3. WHITE STAKED TREES
If a white staked tree interferes with a player’s stance or intended line of swing, relief may be obtained
as per Rule 24-1
4. LATERAL HAZARDS
The stream to the left of the 1st hole; the ditch on the 2nd hole (rear of the 1st green/14th medal tee): that part of the stream running parallel with the right side of the fourth fairway, part of the brook at 14th to the bridge near the green and the ditch between hole 17 and 18 are all deemed to be Lateral Hazards and as such, are defined by RED POSTS.
5. PRACTICE PUTTING GREEN, ROCKERY AND HEATHER GARDENS ON THE COURSE
A ball coming to rest in the heather garden at the rear of the 18th green, may be lifted and dropped in the designate zone without penalty.
6. STEPS AT THE 12TH GREEN
The wooden steps in the bank of the 12th green are an immovable obstruction. Relief may be obtained as per Rule 24-2b
7. TRACTOR RUTS
Deep tractor ruts are deemed G.U.R. and relief should be taken as in Rule 25-1b. Note: this rule does not include shallow indentation made by normal green keeping equipment.
8. TEMPORARY GREENS
All temporary greens should be treated as GUR. A ball should be lifted and dropped clear of any temporary green not nearer the hole, without penalty, unless it is played with a putter.
9. PATHS AND ROADWAY
Paths and roadways are immovable obstructions. Proceed as Rule 24.2 (with exception of those surrounding the Club House)
10. WINTER RULES
When winter rules are in place, a ball plugged anywhere except in a hazard, may be lifted, cleaned and dropped without penalty. In areas of closely mown grass the ball may then be placed.
11. RANGE FINDERS AND G.P.S.
Members and visitors are allowed to use range finders and GPS whilst playing at Hollywood GC.
12. FOG
If the 10th green is not visible from the competition tee, play must stop
13. COURSE EVACUATION
In the event of lightning:
KLAXON SOUNDED ONCE – PLAY MUST STOP
KLAXON SOUNDED TWICE – PLAY MAY RESUME.
Any other danger play will be stopped immediately by 3 consecutive notes on the klaxon.
PENALTY FOR BREACH OF LOCAL RULE
Match play - Loss of hole Stroke play - Two strokes
